The John Agyekum Kufuor Foundation (JAK) has commenced the construction work on the ultra-modern Kufuor Center for Leadership and Governance.

Prof. Baffour Agyeman-Duah, CEO of the Foundation said it is sited on the campus of the University of Ghana, Legon.

He said the Center, will be home to all activities of the Foundation once completed.

He explained that, Legon campus was selected for the Center because of its proximity to facilities that could be leveraged to enhance the Kufuor Scholars Program.

According to him, the Center will have a 500-capacity auditorium, mentoring rooms, conference facility, a library, offices and a presidential suite.

“Former President Kufuor’s abiding passion is for young people of today to emerge as effective leaders of tomorrow, leaders of integrity with abundant love for their country,” he said.

The project which is estimated to cost $5 million upon completion will benefit from the fundraising campaign already underway.

Explaining further, Prof. Agyeman-Duah said the founder and chairman of the Foundation will be 80 years old on 8 December this year.

His birthday is being used to catalyze support for the fundraising.

The Foundation is proposing that for every single year of the former president’s life, an amount of One Million Ghana Cedis should be raised, to yield a total of 80 Million Ghana cedis at the end of the campaign.

Hence, the fundraising campaign has adopted the theme “80for80.”

The foundation seeks the support of all Ghanaians and everyone in achieving the fundraising goal.
