Kasapa Telecoms Limited, the Expresso telecom brand that handles 028 numbers, has had its license revoked by the National Communications Authority (NCA).

In a statement issued by the NCA it was understood that, the telecommunications company, Kasapa Telecom Limited is not licensed to provide any telecommunication services in Ghana.

As a result, all Expresso subscribers have been asked to port to other networks if they wish to keep their numbers.

In relation to the revocation, the license in question was for Advanced Mobile Phone System (AMPS); an analogue network on frequency 850MHz which was later converted to Code Division Multiple Access CDMA 2000 1X in 2005 within the same frequency.

When the company’s name changed from Celltel Limited (1993) to Kasapa Telecoms Limited, a Mobile Cellular License was granted on December 2, 2004 and was scheduled to expire on December 1, 2019, fifteen (15) years later.

But, due to the excess of violation, of its licensing requirements, the NCA notified the business of their intent to terminate the Mobile Cellular License.

However, the termination which took effect on March 15, 2018 was handled in accordance with Section 13 of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775).
