The National Health Insurance Authority of Ghana, (NHIA) has introduced USSD service code for NHIS members.
According to NHIA, the service code can be used by registered members to check their membership eligibility, benefit packages, and their NHIS medicine list.
To access the services, the short code *842*10# must be dialled on any MTN or Vodafone number.
In addition to the latest development, the NHIA is also putting measures in place to enable annual membership renewal via the code.
The NHIA has cautioned members against sharing their mobile money pin codes.
This it says, is because scammers can disguise themselves as NHIS representatives to embark on fraudulent activities.
It however assured members that, more input will be made to reduce the queue, and waiting time during the renewal process.
It therefore appealed, for their cooperation and understanding before the national roll out of the service being tested.
