The rivalry between Mfantsipim School(Botwe) and Adisadel College(Adisco) came to a head in the semifinals of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) today.

The two schools competed against Ghana National College for a spot in the finals.

Botwe lead the competition in the first round with 24 points to Adisco’s 23 however, Adisco managed to draw in the second round and by the fourth round, were leading by 1 point to Botwe’s 41.

In the nerve-wracking final round, Adisco (Jeffrey Quaye, Gabriel Ampadu Sasu) emerged victorious with 48 points, Botwe with 44 points and Ghana National College with 26 points.

This however marks Adisco’s 4th consecutive appearance in the finals of the competition.

The second competition had Mawuli School compete against Keta SHTS and St. Peter’s College.

As with the first contest, the true competition was between two schools; Keta SHTS and St. Peter’s College.

And in a fashion similar to the first contest, Keta SHTS lead the competition before St. Peter’s College drew then overtook them.

And with 35 points, St. Peter’s College (Kissi Annoh Kwaku, Fenny Benjamin) won the competition, Keta SHTS  scored 26 points and Mawuli School also scored 22 points.

The final match had West Africa SHS(WASS) up against Krobo Girls’ SHS and Prempeh College.

The leading school kept shifting from Prempeh College to WASS with Krobo Girls’ SHS trailing behind both of them.

And in a stunning feat, first timers WASS (Tade O. Abdul Hameed, Arkoh Sahene) beat defending champion Prempeh College with 52 points to 45 and Krobo Girls’ SHS coming in with 29 points.

And so at the end of the competition, Adisadel College, St. Peter’s College and West Africa SHS made it to the finals which will be held on July 5, 2018.
