Today marked the last of the one-eighth contests with the defending champions-of last year’s NSMQ-Prempeh College- moving to the quarterfinals.

Prempeh College went up against Saviour SHS and St. Francis Xavier Jnr. Sem. in the last contest of the day.

Prior to the competition, NSMQ’s official Twitter account held a poll to determine the winner and out of 2,569 votes, Prempeh College had 64 percent, St. Francis Xavier Jnr. Sem. had 33 percent and Saviour SHS had 2 percent.

In a manner worthy of defending champions, Prempeh College obliterated their opponents, leading by 23 points to Saviour’s 09 and St. Francis Xavier Jnr. Sem’s 09 points by the end of the first round.

Competitors Saviour SHS and St. Francis Xavier Jnr. Sem. could not catch up and ended the contest with 18 and 29 points respectively.

Prempeh College (Emmanuel Owusu Appiah, Baffour-Awuah Osei Asibey) won the competition with 62 points and progressing to the quarterfinals.

In the first contest of the day were St. Hubert Min. Sem. SHS, Awudome SHS and Accra Academy.

Though the competition got off to a slow start, the pace picked up by the fourth round with Accra Academy (Raphael K. Davordzie, Nicholas Agyare) winning the competition with 37 points, Awudome SHS with 27 points and St. Hubert Min. Sem. SHS with 17 points.

Aduman SHS went up against St. Mary’s Boys SHS and Islamic SHS for a spot in the quarterfinals.

Though St. Mary’s Boys SHS tried their hardest, Islamic SHS (Abdullah Zaiden Mohammed, Ibrahim Abdul-Rahman) got that spot with 32 points, the former finishing with 20 points.

Aduman SHS ended the contest with 06 points.
