Samsung Electronics East Africa has officially unveiled the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus in Kenya. The company announced that the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will be available countrywide at Samsung Experience stores and other retailers such as Safaricom Shop. The recommended retail price for the S9 is Kes.85,000 and Kes.95,000 for the bigger S9 Plus.

The latest Samsung Galaxy S9 comes with a 5.8-inch QHD display, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal Storage, Android 8.0 Oreo, 12MP main camera, 8MP selfie camera, a fingerprint reader alongside an iris scanner for biometric security and a 3000mAh battery.

The S9 Plus, on the other hand, takes the screen size a notch higher to 6.2-inches, 6GB RAM, same 64GB internal storage, a dual 12MP camera setup on the back and an 8MP selfie camera, the battery size also increases to 3500mAh.

Premium Customer Service

Samsung also announced that they will be piloting a one-of-a-kind premium after sales service to better serve their customers. Samsung smartphone owners will now be able to call customer care in case their phone has any issues and a service van will come to the customers’ location and repair the phone in under an hour depending on the fault.

At the moment, Samsung is piloting the service with S9 users, which other models expected to be included later. The free repairs will mostly benefit customer whose smartphones are still under warranty however non-warranty holders can also request for the service at a fee.
